The Data Affair

They are watching us. They know I’m writing these words. They know you are reading them. Governments and hundreds of corporations are spying on you, me, and everyone we know! In ourincreasingly digitised world, our personal data is constantly being invaded, traded, and used against you, often without us realising it.

This thesis project aims to visually demonstrate the hidden process of data extraction that happens throughout our daily lives. Through an Interactive installation, visitors will follow a day in the life of an imaginary person, with each action triggering data collection points, revealing the many trackers that are following us around the web, and exploring the many sensors in our phone that are exploiting our lives.

The Project will show a combination of visual, animations, light game, and guiding text. The objective of this immersive experience is not only to educate and raise awareness, but also to provoke thought

and encourage the visitor to start thinking critically to evaluate their data privacy.
